A Letter from Our Founder

Dear Families

It is with tremendous joy, purpose, and gratitude that I welcome you to The HK Institute for Wonder & Play. As a psychologist, educator, curriculum designer, and advocate, I have spent my life creating warm, beautiful, intellectually rich learning environments where children feel safe, capable, curious, and deeply understood.

Children thrive when joy meets rigor, beauty meets science, and education meets the heart.

We blend the world's most respected learning philosophies: Montessori independence and sensorial development, Reggio Emilia inquiry and creativity, Advancing Literacy reading research from Teachers College, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice, social-emotional learning through Conscious Discipline, and trilingual immersion in Mandarin, Spanish, and English.

Whether your family joins a boutique center, a private microschool, or works with our team during travel or relocation, our commitment is unwavering: to offer world-class education delivered with extraordinary warmth, depth, and humanity.

With warmth and wonder,

Laura Harrington-Knopf, Psy.D., M.A., M.A.
